  1. Click File > Change User Preferences in the Desktop Client, and then click the Default ContainerIDs tab on the Change User Preferences dialog box.

  2. For each domain, select an existing container ID or type in a new one. This information is stored against the user profile and persisted between sessions.

  • The set of domains comes from the database; when the user logs on, the system queries the database in each domain and gets a distinct set of container IDs.

  • If you create a relationship across domains, the new relationship is stamped with the container from the highest domain based on the domain dependencies.

  • A container ID that is no longer associated with any objects may still appear in the list even though it is no longer used. Log off from the Desktop Client and back on to remove the unused container ID from the cache.
