    Tell me more

Your job involves reviewing a lot of files. Sometimes opening and viewing those files can be tricky. We're trying to fix that for you. In previous updates, when a document has a PPM RAD 2D drawing attached, the Web Client displayed two side-by-side tabs. The View tab displays a hotspotted web rendition of the drawing. The Markup tab displays a PDF markup rendition that was generated on the fly. You could use that PDF rendition to add and manage redlines.

    We've made this better:

    • Now, if a document went through the data capture process and now has a DWG (or some other file type, like DGN CAD) file attached, the View tab shows the hotspotted Web rendition of the CAD file, and the Markup tab displays the DGN/DWG file.

    • It's much easier to select files. In most cases, both files are open in parallel, eliminating the need to decide between opening the VECZ web rendition and the native DWG/DGN file.

    • You can use the View and Markup tabs on documents to launch viewers for hotspotted drawings and/or a viewer to allow redlining. In fact, the Web Client has logic that is smart enough to determine how to open files in each case, based on how many files and what kind of files are attached to a document (PDF, DWG, DGN, PID, and so on).

Now, you don't have to click so many times or make difficult technical choices just to open up a file. We hope you have a much more pleasant experience.

  • All objects and documents have been updated with new icon designs.

    Tell me more

We've updated the design of our icons to create a more modern look and feel. You might be thinking "What's the big deal? It's just icons" - we think it's important to show you how we're constantly trying to improve our products. Here's how these new icons are special:

    • They are designed to be more recognizable to you. Objects such as tags, documents, and change requests all have unique icons. The new icons also convey more specific meaning - for example, documents have specific icons based on certain properties.

    • The new icons easily scale and resize without the pesky blurring you might have seen in the past.

  • You can now create new users and manage user role assignments in the Web Client. For more information, see Configure user access.

    Tell me more

User management is a daily activity for an administrator, and now it is available in the Web Client, allowing it to be executed from every device on every location resulting in quick access for new users and new roles.

    • You can now manage users and roles in the Web Client.

    • There's a new fresh interface for all user management-related activities, and it's all in a single location.

    • The new user and role assignment functionality supports the management of user access in all configured plants and projects.

    • With this new Web Client feature, you don't have to connect to the desktop client as often. Cheers!
