SmartPlant Foundation / SDx Version

You can export any sites irrespective of the installed Server Manager. However, you can only import sites that correspond to the Server Manager installed for the database type. For example, if an SmartPlant Foundation site has been exported and SDx Server Manager is installed, the SmartPlant Foundation site is not included in any import. Similarly, if an SDx site is exported and SmartPlant Foundation Server Manager is installed, the SDx site is not included in an import.

You can preserve your site configuration settings during software upgrades, infrastructure changes, backup restorations, or other situations when you need to save and recreate sites.

  • The File > Export Configuration command allows you to export a configuration for all the nodes in Server Manager.

  • The File > Import Configuration command allows you to import a previously saved configuration for all the nodes in Server Manager or for a single node.

  • All sites on the server are preserved even after the software is uninstalled. If the software is reinstalled, the sites corresponding to the Server Manager database type can be restored without having to export or import configuration files.

  • To ensure that you can regain access to your sites if you uninstall the software, you should export the sites to a configuration file beforehand, and then import them after the new installation. See Export a configuration and Import a previously saved configuration for information about exporting and importing configuration files.

  • If you import a site with the same name as an existing site, the new site overwrites the existing site.

  • When you use the Import Configuration command in Server Manager to import settings for an existing site, the software changes from the Microsoft data access provider for Oracle to the Oracle data access provider.

  • If you created a customized folder to store the site's schema files (for example, <drive>:\SmartPlant Foundation Server Files\Web_Sites\<site_name>\EFSchema), then the schema files are not deleted when you import the configuration. If your site's schema files are stored in the default schema file location (<drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Intergraph\EFSchema\), then they are deleted and replaced by the default schema files when you import the configuration.
