Before installing the new version of SmartPlant Foundation on a server, make sure your hardware and software platform conform with the recommendations for this version. These updates may include upgrading your database server or the version of your database management system. See SmartPlant Foundation Hardware and Software Recommendations.

  1. Before beginning the installation of SmartPlant Foundation, you must ensure all prerequisite software for this version is already installed. See Prepare the application server for SmartPlant Foundation.

  2. Install the database client software that is required for this version on the server. See Install database software on the application server.

  3. If you have installed additional SmartPlant software, such as Schema Editor or SmartPlant Client, you must remove these components and then install the new versions delivered with the new version of SmartPlant Foundation. See Install product software.

  4. Perform the installation procedures for SmartPlant Foundation. See Install SmartPlant Foundation.

    • We recommend using the most recent Update of the current version for the new installation.

    • You will need to run SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client after the installation to complete the upgrade process. You can install it on the application server or on a properly-configured workstation.
