There are many keyboard, keypad, and mouse options for navigating Hexagon 3D file formats. The following sections group the options by the type of navigation movement or action.

How do I select more than one object in a Hexagon 3D file format?

You can enable or disable multi selection by:

  • Double-tap anywhere in the model if you are using a touch-enabled device.

  • Double-click anywhere in the model if you are using a computer.

    SHARED Tip Alternatively, you can press Ctrl and click the objects in the model if you are using a computer.

After you enable multi selection, you can tap or click each object you want to select. The number of objects selected is displayed in the sidebar. Only actions applicable to all of the objects are displayed.

These options change what you see just as if you were standing in the model and turning your head.

  • Press and hold the key for the direction to walk.

  • Click the middle mouse button to move halfway in to your target point. Use SHIFT + middle mouse click to move back out the distance of the eye point from the target. The perspective angle does not change.

  • Press and hold the middle mouse button to pan left or right. This allows you to move the model without changing the direction in which you are looking.

Click and hold. The model rotates around the current center point of the view.

Rotate around a selected object (orbit rotate)

Click and drag an object to rotate the model around the selected object for a 360-degree view. However, in Fly mode, you cannot rotate around objects.

If multiple objects are selected, the point of rotation is the center of the range of the selected objects.

Press W and then drag your mouse in Fly mode for enhanced control and higher precision turning.
