Standard Database for Smart Reference Data Version
12.4

Some of the specification rules and catalog sheets required for Smart 3D are automated and can be extracted using the normal export job functionality in Smart Reference Data. The following sheets are automated:

  • Permissible Taps

  • Port Alignment Per Spec

  • Weld Clearance Rule

  • Min Pipe Length Purchase Per Spec

  • Min Pipe Length Rule Per Spec

  • Allowable Piping Material Class

  • Piping Generic Data Bolted

  • Plain Piping Generic Data

  • Piping Generic Data Female

  • Joint Quality Factor

  • Gasket Selection Filter

  • Bolt Selection Filter

  • Nut Selection Filter

  • Washer Selection Filter

Permissible Taps

Open the SRD > Spec > Spec Editor screen.

Select the value for the default tap number from the List of Values in the PREF_PERM_TAP field, as shown above. This will enable the default selection of tap number for the selected specification. Now users can extract the "Permissible Taps" sheet in the Smart 3D export jobs as explained earlier in this document.

Bolt Commodity Code Substitution Rule

A retrieval source "Get_BoltCommodityCodeSubstRule" that fetches the bolt commodity code based on the short code ‘BLT’ from the spec has been created.

Allowable Piping Material Class

To extract this data automatically from Smart 3D export jobs, the following procedure should be followed:

  • On SRD > Component Manager > Table Management, information must be defined in column CL145 and the fluid code list number entered.

  • The attribute P_FLUID_CODE is linked to the specification at the specification header level on Spec Editor screen. By doing this, the piping class and the applicable fluid code are linked.

Joint Quality Factor

This sheet contains the joint quality factor details for Smart 3D. The procedure to extract the data automatically from Smart Reference Data is as follows.

Open the Table Details grid for table "P_ALIAS_LT_WELDTYPE", as shown below:

SDB help - piping data

Depending on the weld type, the joint quality factor is entered in the column as shown above. The attribute "P_ALIAS_LT_WELDTYPE" is part of the pipe commodity code. Therefore, depending on the size range entered for the pipe commodity code for each piping class in Specification, the data is populated into the bulk load sheet "JointQualityFactor" for Smart 3D.

Gasket Selection Filter

This sheet contains information that Smart 3D will use to find the proper gasket for a gasket required joint. Due to the complexity of the gasket selection filter, SDB only provides a basic procedure to generate draft data for this sheet semi-automatically. The spec writer needs to make sure the data on this sheet is correct and complete.

  • Open Integration > Smart 3D > Smart 3D Configuration. Choose the template where the GasketSelectionFilter data will be stored, select the GasketSelectionFilter sheet, and right-click on the Sheet and then click Fill Spec Rule.

This procedure generates different combinations of records based on the end preparation, end standard, and pressure rating. The spec writer must verify and update if required.

Bolt Selection Filter

This sheet contains the information that Smart 3D will use to find the proper bolt for a bolted joint. This sheet uses the same methodology as the GasketSelectionFilter sheet. Please refer to Gasket Selection Filter for more information.

Nut Selection Filter

This sheet contains the information that Smart 3D will use to find the proper nut for a given type bolt. Data for NutSelectionFilter is stored as template data. It is the spec writer’s responsibility to fill this sheet.

Since the NutSelectionFilter is stored as template data, users should maintain it in their own version of the Smart 3D templates.

Washer Selection Filter

This sheet contains the information that Smart 3D uses to find the proper washer for a given type of bolt. This sheet uses the same methodology as NutSelectionFilter.
