A synchronization with the SAP Server for Work Orders, Notifications, and Operations is performed, on an hourly schedule at the start of the hour by default. A different minute of the hour can be configured during setup or from the j5 System Management Console. This synchronization imports all of the master data required for Work Orders, Notifications, and Operations into the related tables in j5, and then imports the Work Orders, Notifications, and Operations.

The process followed by the synchronization is as follows:

  1. All SAP time zone related data and SAP user data needed for working with time zones is downloaded from the server, and stored in internal tables in j5.

  2. All SAP Work Orders are downloaded from the SAP server, and stored in the Work Orders table in j5.

  3. All SAP Operations related to Work Orders retrieved from SAP are downloaded from the SAP server, and stored in the Operations table in j5.

  4. All SAP Notifications are downloaded from the SAP server, and stored in the Work Requests table in j5.

  5. All SAP Master data for Maintenance Plants, Priority Types, and Notification Types are downloaded and stored in related tables in j5.

The synchronization only downloads SAP Notification information and does not push information. In order to push Work Notification information to SAP, the notification needs to be submitted manually through the j5-wro Work Notifications application.
