Equipment Types (Asset, Property, and System) remain unchanged except for "Position" which has been relabeled "Property" to reflect the referencing of physical location. The equipment type will determine which equipment screen to select. In summary, equipment types provide a hierarchy and can be described as follows:
-
Asset: Asset types are physical objects.
-
Property: Property types identify a physical location.
-
System: System types are usually a collection of equipment and/or systems that work together.
Example: Your hospital has a pump, which operates as part of a water line. The water line is in the kitchen. The pump stops working, so you must turn off the entire water line to repair the pump. In this scenario, your hospital would track the pieces of assets as:
Asset = pump
Property = kitchen
System = water line
