Before you can share data between authoring tools and organizations using SDx, you must register the plant in the authoring tool with the plant in SDx. The relationship you create during this registration includes a tool signature or design component, which tracks where the data is coming from when shared. Each authoring tool can register to SDx and receive a unique tool signature. A new set of tables is created in the database as part of registration with the signature name. This allows SDx to segregate data from different sources.

You can register plants only when they are in the active state.

  • For example, if the signature is AAAE, the tables created are: AAAEOBJ, AAAEOBJIF, AAAEOBJPR, AAAEPRDETAIL, and AAAEREL.

  • If you are registering Smart 3D, no new tables are created. And the data is stored in the Integration tables.

  • Tables created during registration depend on the design component property. If the design component property is not populated for the tool, signature tables are created with signature as table name prefix. If the design component property is populated, design component tables are created with design component property value as table name prefix. For more information about design component tables, refer to Setting up an integrated environment.

During registration, 3D material styles are pushed to SDx and are stored in the Graphics Data Model (GDM) table.

The GDM tables must be available in the SDx database to complete the registration.
