Displays when you select a volume placed using the Space Management Tab > Volumes > Shape Command .
General
Catalog Part Number
Specifies the identifier (such as a part number or class) associated with the object to place. Recently used items are available in the list.
Browse Catalog
Displays the catalog associated with your model. Move through the hierarchy to find the objects you need or type the name of the object in the Search box. See Select from Catalog Dialog.
Space Folder
Specifies the space folder for the volume. The list displays recently used space folders that are appropriate to assign for the new volume, and the Select from Workspace and Select from Model options. The most recently used space folder displays at the top of the list.
Select from Workspace
Displays the Select Space Folder Dialog with the Workspace tab open. The workspace is the subset of the active model database you specified when you started your design session. Navigate the hierarchy to select the space folder, and then click OK.
Select from Model
Displays the Select Space Folder Dialog with the Model tab open. The model is all of the objects in the active model database, including those that are not part of your workspace. Navigate the hierarchy to select the space folder, and then click OK.
Select Parent System Hierarchy
Turns on or off the interactive selection. When this option is on, you can select the space folder in a graphic view or any of the explorers.
Name
Specifies the name of the selected volume. If the name is too long to display in the text box, point to the text box to display the complete name as a tool tip. If the name is not defined by a rule, User Defined displays. If this name is generated by a naming rule, Naming Rule displays. If you type a name in this box, Smart 3Dx automatically changes the naming rule to User Defined.
Placement Inputs
Shape Gallery
Specifies the shape of the volume to place. You can select the shape from the gallery of common shapes, search for a specific shape, or click Browse Catalog to open the Select from Catalog Dialog. Smart 3Dx displays a list of your most recently used shapes below the search box.
Shape Dimension Preview
Displays a preview of the shape and its dimensions.
Dimensional Properties
Specifies the size of the volume to place. The available dimensional properties depend on the shape you select from the shape gallery. For example, a circular cylinder uses length and diameter properties, while a sphere only uses the diameter property. A hexagonal solid uses length, height, and two width properties. The dimensional properties available for a shape display below the shape gallery.
Position And Orientation
The Move and Rotate (Ctrl + R) controls are unavailable for volumes placed using Assoc Enabled.
Move
Moves the selected volume.
Move From Position (Ctrl + T)
Specifies the point from which to start the move.
Move To Position (T)
Specifies the point at which to finish the move.
No Constraint (CTRL + 6)
Objects are free to move in any direction.
East
Y-axis and Z-axis coordinates are locked. Object moves freely along the X-axis.
North
X-axis and Z-axis coordinates are locked. Object moves freely along the Y-axis.
Elevation
X-axis and Y-axis coordinates are locked. Object moves freely along the Z-axis.
Elevation Plane (CTRL + 1)
Z-axis coordinate is locked. Object moves freely in the X-Y coordinate plane.
East-West Plane (CTRL + 3)
X-axis coordinate is locked. Object moves freely in the Y-Z coordinate plane.
North-South Plane (CTRL + 2)
Y-axis coordinate is locked. Object moves freely in the X-Z coordinate plane.
Rotate (CTRL + R)
Starts rotation for the volume. See Rotate equipment.

Press RIGHT and click Rotate to rotate the volume 90 degrees clockwise about the active axis.

Press LEFT and click Rotate to rotate the volume 90 degrees counter-clockwise about the active axis.
Angle Step
Specifies the angle about the axis that the object rotates when you select Step Rotation . Enter a value in the Angle Step box or select a blank space in the control panel to remove the input focus from the box.
Press G to set the focus to the active graphic view.
Press CTRL+LEFT to rotate the object clockwise one step about the Axis.
Press CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT to rotate the object counter-clockwise one step about the Axis.
Axis
Specifies the axis about which Smart 3Dx rotates the object. The available options include: X-Axis, Y-Axis, and Z-Axis.
Reposition Rotate Origin
Moves the rotation triad to a position that you specify. The rotation triad indicates the point about which the rotation occurs. Select a point in the graphic view to specify the new location.
Reset Rotate Origin
Moves the rotation triad origin to the origin of the selected object.
If keyboard shortcuts are not working when you move or rotate objects, select the application title bar to reset the focus. Smart 3Dx indicates focus by displaying the bright blue border.
Completion
Cancel (ESC)
Cancels all changes and exits the command.
Finish (CTRL + ENTER)
Saves all changes and exits the command.
Finish and Modify (CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER)
Saves all changes, and then selects the objects for modification.
