  1. Select Cables S3D_Cable_Run from the Locate Filters or identify the cable run to modify from the System Hierarchy Explorer.

  2. Select the cable run to modify to open the Modify Cable(s) Controls.

    The cable run properties display in the Properties view.

  3. In the Parent System box, select a system for the cable. Select the system from the workspace, model, or by selecting graphically.

  4. Select the naming rule to use.

  5. In the Signal Type box, choose a type for the cable.

  6. In the Cable Part box, select a cable part from the most recently used list, or browse the catalog, or search for the cable part.

  7. In the Originating Device and the Terminating Device box, define the originating device and terminating device connection.

    If a piece of equipment has a cable port, the Receptacle, Terminal, Connector, and Backshell (or a combination of these) values for the equipment are available for selection in the property page.

  8. In the Spare Cable Length at Origin and Spare Cable Length at Destination boxes, type the extra length of cable at the originating and the terminating devices respectively.

    The Route Status is automatically populated based on the status of the cable.

  9. Select Route Cable Command S3D_Route_Cable to manage the route of the cable through the shortest network path between the originating and the terminating devices or select Unroute cable to delete the routed path of the selected cables.

  10. Complete the placement:

    • Select Finish (CTRL + ENTER) to save your changes and exit the command.

    • Select Finish and Modify Finish Modify ICON (CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER) to save your changes and then start the modification of that object.
