  1. Go to software\SPCTools on Azure Storage Explorer.

  2. Copy the entire ResourceFileGenerator folder to your local machine.

SHARED Tip After you have copied the folder, you can save it somewhere and just create a desktop shortcut to the ResourceGenerator.exe file.

  3. Open up the ResourceGenerator.exe file.

  4. Select the correct Culture Code in the dropdown box. (Question: What is the correct code? Should we provide more explanation? Are they expected to know what that means and which code is correct?)

  5. Select the correct Character to input into the selected Resource File. (Question: Is this also from a dropdown menu? The verbiage "select" implies it is, but I wanted to check. Are they inputting the Character into the Resource File, or does the selection input the Character in automatically?)

  6. Select the correct Input Resource File (either SPCClientResources.Resx or SPCServerResources.Resx). (Question: Are they expected to know which to choose? What are the differences?)

  7. Select the Output Folder for the destination of your generated resource files. The generated resource files are the modified resx file, the Resources file with corresponding culture code, and the dll (either SPC.Client.Infrastructure.Resources.dll or SPC.Server.SPFServer.Resources.dll).

This is different from the location of the Input Resource File.

  8. Go to the Output Folder and copy its contents into either of the following locations depending on which type of localization you are trying to do:

  • Client: <Drive>\Program Files (x86)\SmartConstruction\1.0\SPCClient\<culture code>

  • Server: <Drive>\SmartPlant Foundation Server Files\Web_Sites\<WebsiteName>\Bin\<culture code>

If you need to localize the text in the Smart Construction 8.0 GVC viewer, you will need to contact the 3D GVC team for help. The GVC control currently embeds languages, therefore the addition of a new language must be done by request to the GVC team for a future release.
