SmartPlant Foundation passwords and Windows passwords are not connected in any way, unless you have implemented Windows authentication for SmartPlant Foundation.

When using Windows authentication for SmartPlant Foundation, do not set any expiration for SmartPlant Foundation user passwords in that software. If the SmartPlant Foundation password is set to expire, the Change Password dialog box appears after the defined numbers of days. That dialog box allows users to change the user password in SmartPlant Foundation only, causing a synchronization issue with Windows.

Click File > Change Password.

In the Change Password dialog box, type your old password, your new password, and then a confirmation of the new password.
If you do not currently have a password, you do not need to type your old password.
