The Auto-Correlate workflow matches objects by name and creates the SameAs relationships in the SmartPlant Foundation. When publishing from an authoring tool, you have the option to publish using the Correlate or Auto-Correlate workflows. The Auto-Correlate workflow compares the objects in that document to the objects that are already in SmartPlant Foundation. For each object, the workflow looks for objects in the database that are shareable through the same shared object definition, as defined by the SmartPlant Schema, and have the same name as the object in the document. Objects that match in both name and shared object definition can correlate.

To correlate tags, you must set certain SmartPlant Foundation options in the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client before publishing. For more information about setting these options, see Set the SmartPlant Foundation Options.

The Correlate and Auto-Correlate workflows only correlate shared object definitions that are included in the default list of shared object definitions in the SmartPlant Foundation options. Therefore, some tags, such as valves and piping specialty, do not correlate automatically when those workflows are used because the SharedPipingComponent_PM shared object definition is not included in the default list of shared object definitions in the SmartPlant Foundation options.

Only a SmartPlant Foundation administrator can modify the SmartPlant Foundation Options in the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client.
