Use the following topics to set user options in the Desktop Client.
Allows you to change the password for the current user.
User name - Displays the user name for the current user. This option is read only.
Enter old password - Type the password that you want to change.
Enter new password - Type the new password.
Confirm new password - Retype the new password.

SmartPlant Foundation passwords and Windows passwords are not connected in any way, unless you have implemented Windows authentication for SmartPlant Foundation.

When using Windows authentication for SmartPlant Foundation, do not set any expiration for SmartPlant Foundation user passwords in that software. If the SmartPlant Foundation password is set to expire, the Change Password dialog box appears after the defined numbers of days. That dialog box allows users to change the user password in SmartPlant Foundation only, causing a synchronization issue with Windows.

If your system enforces the password policy, you must choose a strong, secure password when it is changed. This must be a minimum of 8 characters in length and contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Allows you to log on as a different user.
User name - Type your SmartPlant Foundation user name.
Password - Type the password for your user account.
Server - Select the name of the SmartPlant Foundation site connection to which you want to connect. You can also add a new site connection or edit an existing one by clicking Options and then clicking Edit or New.
When using Windows authentication:

You are logged on automatically if you have one site configured in your Server list and your Windows user name is valid for that SmartPlant Foundation site.

You must enter your name and password if you have multiple sites configured in your Server list.
Sets the effective date for the Desktop Client, setting the point in time at which you want to view the data in the database.
Calendar - Select a date from the calendar. The calendar is available only if the Show data available option is set to On.
Show data available - Allows you to view the current data or the data at a specific date in time.

Now - Sets the effective date to the current system date. The calendar is unavailable when you select this option.

On - Makes the calendar available for selecting an effective date and time.
Time - Sets the hour, minute, and second of the date indicated in the calendar when you want to view the data in the database. This option is available only if the Show data available option is set to On.
When you set the effective date to a date in the past, you cannot change the data.
You can only view the data that was valid at that point in history.
