Problem

The error message "CSF file is not generated for the file [filename].[Microsoft Office file type/PDF]" appears while running a content discovery task.

Solution

Manually convert the Microsoft Office or PDF file to a view rendition (CSF) file by doing the following:

  1. Log on to the Desktop Client.

  2. Find the Data Capture document with the file attached (Microsoft Office or PDF file).

  3. Right-click the document, and click Files > Generate View Renditions.

    If the conversion fails, then check if the file is corrupted by doing the following:

    1. Right-click the document, and click Files > Save Target As.

    2. In the Save Target As dialog box, select the respective design file (Microsoft Office or PDF file) from the list to save a local copy.

    3. Specify where you want to place the local copy of the file in the Path box.

    4. Navigate to the file on your computer, and open it. If the file does not open, then it is corrupted.

You can repair the corrupted file and re-attach it to the Data Capture document. For more information, see Create and manage documents in the Desktop Client. Using Data Capture, you can run the content discovery task for this re-attached design file.
