Cannot be used to edit a step's events.

  2. Click Before to add the first step.

Each workpack must have at least two steps.

  3. Type a name and description for the step.

  4. In the Weighting(%) box, type a weighting for the step (as a percentage). The weighting you define here indicates the portion of the lifecycle of the deliverable that is complete once this step is reached.

For example, you can create a step that indicates that a document has been issued for review. If a document is 20% complete when it has been issued for review, then the weighting value for the Issue to Review step is 20.

  5. If the step will be a construction step, select the Construction step check box.

SHARED Tip Construction steps must be completed between the workpack's Construction Start and Construction End dates.

  6. This step can be divided into a number of events that must occur before the step is considered complete. To attach an event to the step, click Events.

  7. In the Event box, select an event from the list.

  8. If progress accrual based on this event should only occur conditionally, select a Condition from the list.

    Events Configuration options

    Description

Selects the event for which progress accrual is required.

    Condition

Selects the condition that must be met for the step to accrue progress.

    Percentage progress for step

Indicates what percentage of the step must be completed before this event will fire. That is, if the step must be 50% complete before the event is fired, enter 50 in this box.

    Add

Enters the event in the list below.

    Remove

Deletes the event selected in the list below.

    Selected Events

A list of the events that have been added to the step or sub step.

New conditions can be added to the list using File > New > Conditions in the Desktop Client. For example, obj.revision = ā€˜cā€™ (if document is at revision c).

  9. Click Add to include the event in the list at the bottom of the dialog box.

  10. Create other events as necessary.

SHARED Tip You cannot change the order of the items in this list. Be sure to add the event in the order you want them to appear.

Time Strings tab

The Time Strings tab allows you to create or modify the time strings for a workpack.

A time string is the time between the steps in days (that is, a collection of durations). The numbers assigned to each step represent the number of days expected between the end of the step and the end of the following step. This table includes columns for the name and description of the time string and for each step defined for the workpack.

Typically, time strings are based on the document types. Different document types require different times to go through the steps. For example, a design document may need several weeks to progress, whereas a tower document may only need a few days. For more information about timestrings, see Create a new design workpack.

  1. Click  on the first blank row to create a new time string.

  2. Enter a name and description for the time string.

  3. In each step column, enter the number of days between the end of the step and the end of the next step.

  4. The last step is automatically set to 0 and cannot be edited.

To create another time string, click the next blank row, and repeat the above procedure.

    TimeStringsInNewWorkpack

  5. Click OK to create the workpack and exit the form.

It is possible to create additional time-strings during deliverable registration. Any number of time strings can be defined for a workpack, including none. For each defined time string, a duration must be entered for each production step of the workpack. The duration set in each time string for the last production step for a workpack will always be 0 man days.

Plan Details tab

The plan detail tab is used to set the start and end dates for the workpack. It is also used to enter the man hours.

  1. Click on the Plan Details tab.

  2. In the Dates section, enter the Plan Start and End dates.

  3. Enter the Float and Construction Start and End dates if known.

  4. In the Man hours section, enter the Budget and Unapproved man hours.

You must enter the Budget man hours, or information about this workpack will not appear when you view progress for this configuration.

    Dates options

    Descriptions

    Plan

Planned start and end dates of the workpack.

    Float

Dates by which the plan must be started and finished, including any available slip time.

The float overrides the plans dates above. When a deliverable is first registered, the system checks to see if it is within the plan dates. If it is not, it then checks to see if it is within the float dates.

    Construction

The dates on which construction is scheduled to start and finish. If the construction flag is set on a step, its date on any deliverables must fall within this window.

The Construction Start and Construction End dates must be within the defined Plan Start and Plan End dates.

    Replan

Activated when the workpack is in replan mode.

If necessary, enter revised plan start and end dates rather than changing the original dates entered for that value.

    Construction replan

Activated when workpack is in replan. If necessary, enter revised construction plan start and end dates rather than changing the original dates entered for that value.

    Man hours options

    Description

    Budget

The original number of man hours that have been budgeted for the completion of this deliverable.

    Unapproved

The number of man hours (needed to complete the task) you would like to extend the allocated budget hours by. These hours are not yet approved or used in any calculations.

    Approved

The number of additional man hours that have been approved.

    To be approved

The number of unapproved hours that have still to be approved.

The number entered here is subtracted from the Unapproved field and added to the Approved and Current fields.

    Current

The accumulated number of man hours allocated (budget hours + approved hours). You cannot edit this field.

  • Budget man hours - These figures are maintained based on the allocated man hours for the workpack and the weighting and level of completion of the deliverable.

  • The approved and unapproved man hour entries can be a negative value.

Example: If budgeted man hours are 2000 and another 1000 hours have been requested and 1600 have been approved, the form would display:
