The options on the Alarm and Range tab allow you to define DCS range and alarm properties for the selected CS tag. Note that these properties are shared by the tag number or virtual tag that is associated with the current CS tag. Therefore, changing a property on this tab affects not only the current CS tag but also the tag number or virtual tag associated with the current CS tag. If there are several CS tags associated with a tag number, changing a range or an alarm value affects all the associated CS tags too.
Also, alarm and range values can be shared by Smart Instrumentation and various DSC vendors such Emerson's DeltaV. Therefore, some of these properties may have been retrieved from these systems prior to opening this dialog.
