The Definition window is the area where you begin to define your query by dragging items from the Item Type Explorer and dropping them in this window. A line connecting between items indicates that there is a relationship between the items. Right-clicking the Relationship Relationship DB Icon icon opens the Relation dialog where you select the relation type (if more than one is available) and the relation method. For more information, see Understanding the Query Builder.

Query Builder Pane

You can also, from this window, select to Exclude empty rows, or add a relationship to another item type.

  • Specification and Process Data Item Types do not include the Exclude empty rows option.

  • Exclude empty rows is not available for the three Plant Group Item Types; (highest, intermediate, and lowest) instead you can choose Only query from this level where the query only collects data from current logged-in plant level.

  • You can open more than one query window at the same time.

  • Each time you drag an item in to the Definition window, the window displays the item type name. If more than one item of the same type is dragged in to the window then the second and subsequent items are displayed with the suffix underscore (_) and a digit, for example; Instrument_1. This name also corresponds to the relationship method and also identifies the selected attributes in the Query.
