On the General tab of the Wiring Equipment Properties dialog, you define the equipment name, its type, manufacturer, and model.
Note that if you are creating DeltaV-compatible items, see Crucial Fields for the DeltaV Interface for important information.
Name
Allows you to type a new name or edit the existing one. This name then appears in the Domain Explorer when you expand the hierarchy of the parent item.
Apply naming convention
Allows you to name the new equipment automatically according to the naming conventions that are set for this type of panel in the Administration module. For more information, see Smart Instrumentation Administration Help, Domain Administration > Naming Conventions.
If you clear the Apply naming convention check box, the software disregards the naming conventions and accepts the name that you typed under Name.
Panel
Displays the name of the panel where the wiring equipment item is located.
Double width
Allows you to determine that the wiring equipment item occupies a double width slot/position.
Description
Allows you to type a brief description as you require.
Type
Allows you to select a wiring equipment item type from this list. If the required type is not on the select list, select to open a dialog where you add or modify the items in the Type select list.
Manufacturer
Allows you to select a manufacturer from this list. If the required manufacturer is not on the select list, select to open a dialog where you add or modify the items in the Manufacturer select list.
Model
Allows you to select a model. If the required model is not on the select list, select to open a dialog where you add or modify the items in the Model select list.
Sequence
Allows you to enter a sequence number for the current wiring equipment item within the parent wiring item.
Series
Allows you to enter a manufacturer's series number that identifies the I/O card group type.
Rack
Displays the rack where the current wiring equipment item is located.
Slot
Displays the slot where the wiring equipment item is located.
